Advocacy is a central part of PennTESOL East’s mission to advance the field of English language teaching. The Advocacy Committee is charged with the planning, coordination, and oversight of the association’s advocacy work. Its work includes:
Non-board members of the association are invited to serve as non-voting members of the Committee. You might be a good fit for this committee if you care deeply about equity, policy, and speaking up for English learners and educators in the public sphere.

Conferences are a primary benefit that PennTESOL East offers its members, and the Conference Committee plays a central role in making each event successful. The Conference Committee is reestablished for each conference and is responsible for:
The Committee meets as frequently as needed for conference planning. Non-board members of the association are encouraged to join and may serve as non-voting members of the Conference Committee. You might be a good fit for this committee if you enjoy organizing details, collaborating with others, and helping turn big ideas into successful in-person or virtual events.

As a membership-based association, PennTESOL East depends on a healthy, engaged community of educators. The Membership Committee works to monitor and cultivate the growth and engagement of our membership. This includes identifying and proposing strategies, tactics, and initiatives intended to:
The Committee meets at least 4 times a year and produces a brief report for the Board after each meeting. Non-board members of the association are invited to serve as non-voting members of the Committee. You might be a good fit for this committee if you enjoy outreach and community-building and like using feedback or data to help grow and strengthen a professional network.

Webinars offer PennTESOL East members a way to engage with the broader TESOL community in our region and beyond. The Webinars Committee is reestablished each academic year. Its work includes:

You might be a good fit for this committee if you enjoy curating professional learning, working with presenters, and supporting the delivery of high-quality online programs.
