NSC Hiring ESL Substitute teachers, TAs and Tutors

Join us in making a difference! NSC is looking for volunteers to help the Vocational ESL program at 6434 Castor Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19149) is seeking dedicated volunteer ESOL instructors and tutors to help low literacy adults. Volunteers are needed on Mondays and Wednesdays. Both morning and afternoon shifts available.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with delivering pre-prepared lessons focused on literacy and workforce development. No lesson planning needed.

• Maintain accurate attendance records.

• Substitute teach classes if available.

• Offer tutoring or homework help with student provided materials.

• Provide a supportive and welcoming environment for all learners.

Skills Needed:

• Experience with adult English language learners is preferred, but a passion for teaching and helping others succeed is most important.

• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, showing empathy and understanding for the challenges they face.

Volunteers will receive an orientation and ongoing support from the Vocational ESL Coordinator. We track all volunteer hours and offer recommendation letters.
