    Teacher in Residence in ESL/EAP Programs

    Lecturer Position in TESOL at GSE, University of Pennsylvania

     

     

    Full-time Lecturer in TESOL

     

    The Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in our division of Educational Linguistics. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in applied linguistics or a related field with a clear specialization in TESOL. Ideal candidates will have a background in teaching both general educational linguistics as well as TESOL methods courses. In addition, the ideal candidate will also have experience working with international students studying in the United States. We expect the successful candidate to provide leadership in developing programming that meets the unique needs of our international student population. 

     

    The Lecturer appointment is made on a one-year (12 months) contract renewable up to three years. The candidate may also be expected to teach one or two summer courses as part of his/her load.

    Our available learner is an executive in the digital media industry from Germany with a presentations skills focus who would like to meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and/or Fridays from 5pm – 6:30pm in West Chester, PAfor approximately 40 hours of instruction total.

    Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience teaching ESL, along with direct experience either in the business setting or teaching business English. The tutor should also be comfortable with creating their own lessons and selecting any materials to be used.

    We're hiring ESOL Tutors


    Requirements:

    • All ESOL tutor candidates must have at least 60 university credits
    • Fluency in another language, while not required, is preferred

    Essential Functions & Commitments

    • Tutors will work with English Learners (ELs). They will be assigned a cooperating teacher/school designee at each location and will receive support and training from a Manager with the Office of Multilingual Curriculum, and Programs (OMCP)
    • Tutors will be paid on an hourly basis, at the rate of $12 (minimum), no benefits. Tutors must commit to 6-25 hours/week on a consistent schedule for the duration of the placement, following the School District calendar.

    Drexel University’s English Language Center has an ongoing need for tutors of IEP and international students. This is a paid position.

     

    Tutors work a minimum of three hours a day, one day per week. Additional days and hours may be possible.
