    With an expanding population of refugees arriving from diverse backgrounds, there is an increasing need for English language programs. RENEW is a non-profit with a mission to help refugee women learn English so that they can improve their job opportunities and integrate successfully into their new communities.

    RENEW is looking for competent and flexible USA based ESL instructors to join our team.

    Job Title: Online Adult ESL Instructor

    Time Commitment:  Part-time (4-6 hours per week), 

    Location: Remote Teaching

    Salary: $25 per hour; 1099 Contract basis

    General Description:  The ESL instructor will develop lesson plans and tailor the curricula for refugee women whose native language is not English.  Classes target beginning and intermediate level English speakers. 

    Summary of Responsibilities

    ▪   Teach adult learners who are at different levels of proficiency.

    ▪   Assess learning needs of refugee women to meet their needs.

    ▪   Organize and modify class activities to accommodate different learning styles and speed.

    ▪   Maintain accurate records of attendance and progress of students.

    ▪   Evaluate and disseminate progress reports at regular intervals.

    ▪   Create a non-threatening, non-discriminatory, encouraging, and nurturing environment for learning

    ▪   Encourage interaction among students to facilitate learning and confidence.

    ▪   Show cultural sensitivity in working with women with different values and beliefs.

    ▪   Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries as deemed appropriate.

    ▪   Follow RENEW policies. 

    Qualifications:

    ▪   Bachelor's Degree, preferably in education, TESOL, or a related field.

    ▪   TESOL/TESL/TEFL certification or equivalent preferred.

    ▪   Minimum of 1 year experience teaching adult language learners. 

    ▪   Strong time management and organizational skills.

    ▪   Demonstrate punctuality.

    ▪   Should be able to work independently and in a team.

    ▪   Exercise sound and objective judgment in decision-making practices.

    ▪   Have experience with online learning platforms (Zoom, Google meet, MS teams, etc.)

    ▪   Own laptop or desktop computer fitted with a high-definition webcam and fast and reliable internet connection.

    ▪   Must be experienced with Microsoft products.

    The English Language Program at Rowan University is seeking qualified part-time adult ESL instructors. The ELP is a year-round university-based intensive academic English program serving adult international and local immigrant students. Our primary goals are to prepare students for university success and help non-native speakers of English improve their English skills. We are looking to hire part-time adult ESL instructors to on our Glassboro campus. Courses are taught on an ongoing basis with instructors regularly receiving consistent on-going work throughout the year. However, the courses offered will be based on enrollment and programming needs.


    Qualifications

    Qualified candidates must have a Master’s degree in TESOL, Linguistics, or English with qualifications of teaching for an adult audience. A minimum of 1 year teaching academic ESL in an adult education environment is required.

    Temple's First Year Writing program is offering

    a free reading and writing class for English learners

    who are seniors or recent graduates from a Philadelphia

    high school. Students will practice the types of reading and

    writing that students do in college. We will also talk about

    topics such as selecting colleges, managing your time,

    and finding helpful resources. We will have lots of fun

    practicing for college! Residency status is not required.

    District 1199C Recruiting Students for FREE Home Health Aide/ESL Program


    Posting on behalf of District 1199C Training and Upgrading Fund:


    Please see the attached flyer for our upcoming, FREE home health aide/ESL program. Students will study with an RN instructor and an ESL instructor to study core healthcare skills, caretaking skills, nursing career pathways, and medical/caregiving English for free with on-site, hands-on instruction. The course is scheduled from September 23 - December 20. 


    To participate, students must:
    • Score an NRS level 6 on CASAS Life and Work or Reading STEPS exam (we will administer if the student does not have a valid test for this program year)
    • Attend a short pre-session of regular ESL class in our IELCE program
    • Have a social security card and state ID
    • Get a physical and two-step PPD test as part of the enrollment process (some previous PPD tests may be acceptable, contact for further information)
    • Commit to the full schedule of training
    Students will receive:
    • Textbook and workbook
    • Stethoscope and blood pressure kit
    • One set of scrubs
    Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate they can use to apply for home health aide jobs right away, and we will also hold job fairs regularly to connect students with employers.
